Jerusalem Christian Tour

Beginnings of this tour needs to start with a panoramic view of glorious Jerusalem. From the Mount of Olives unfolding across the Kidron Valley are the walls of the old city of Jerusalem. Besides the iconic golden Dome of the Rock one can imagine the last week of Jesus' life on earth as he walked back and forth across this valley between the sacred city of Jerusalem and the olive trees that filled the slopes below. Soon we will enter the Garden of Gethsemane that has olive trees dating back perhaps to the time of Jesus. Next to the garden is the 20th century Church of all Nations designed by the famous Franciscan architect Mario Berlucci that commemorates the arrest of Jesus by the Romans.

Driving along the slopes of Kidron valley we will head towards Mt Zion . There is located the traditional Room of the Last Supper, Tomb of King David, and the Dormition Church. The entrance into the old city is here thru the Zion Gate. Passing thru its elbow entrance we will walk on the famous Roman Cardo Maximus and also get a good look at part of Jerusalem's wall built by King Hezekiah near the end of the First Temple Period. From here thru the Jewish Quarter and then arrive at the holiest site for the Jews, the Western Wall. The spiritual awakening here is inspiring. I suggest you join the millions that have written a request and place it in the tiny cracks of this monumental holy wall.

Leaving the Jewish Quarter we will enter the Muslim Quarter and head towards the Via Dolorosa and the traditional 14 stations along its course. Along the way stopping at many of the stations that have outstanding religious and archeological value. We will pass under the Ecco Homo arch that was built by Emperor Hadrian as a victory gate after ending the last of the of the Jewish Revolts. Walking thru the colorful Muslim Bazzar, we enter the Christian Quarter and arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher with all its holiness. Passing thru the Crusader courtyard we enter thru the door that has been opened and closed every morning by the same Muslim families for the past 800 years. Inside the church the last 4 stations of the cross are visited and the holiness of the site can enter ones soul.

Leaving the city we will head towards Mt Herzl and take in a short visit of Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum. All in all a very full day of visiting the many moving sites that is only in Jerusalem.
